We were bounced in the semi-final match by a solid Los Internationals side on Monday night. The final match never happened last night. Both teams couldn't field a full 11 and the other team (a side no one had ever seen before) had to forfeit to Los Internationals as they had six and the other had at least 7. A strange and frankly pathetic end to an otherwise tough summer schedule.

Sorry, been a while since I had the time to post.
We just defeated, in our 2nd round playoff match, the 'same' Bloomington FC side that we had beat 10-2 earlier in the summer by a narrow score of 2-1. They had a good half dozen players of course that were not on their roster this time around- an issue I'm beginning to take exception too. Facing the same players on multiple teams and having to beat them, especially when it matters, is for lack of a better word- annoying. Especially when league rules apparently prohibit these shenanigans. I pride this team on always taking the high road and adhering to the rules, even when most everyone else does not. A quality that defines us, better than others. Bobby Neeley has returned from his hamstring injury to score tonight. His tally coming from a penalty kick in about the 80th minute to secure the win. Justin Tipsord scored, again, which I think he's done in everygame this year it seems. Chad Fisher played in the opening 15 minutes and had to leave with his hamstring injury that continues to limit his minutes. This forced us to play a man down in the 90 degree heat for a good 70 minutes. Alex Kowerko, Jon Solberg and Chris Matthews were not able to participate as well leaving a good portion of our scoring talent off the field. Additionally, the injury scene has taken it's hold on the team unlike any of our previous seasons together. Since our one loss, a narrow 2-1 defeat in the spring championship game in May, we were out no less than 10 roster players when we faced Pegasus and lost in a late summer session match. On the injury front: Andy Oleson continues to stay sidelined with the knee injury picked-up several weeks ago and could be out the remainder of the year. The high scoring Fisher will likely be out for a longer period to rest his hamstring. Lastly Justin Veach, who was an original member of the championship team in 2008, has decided to retire for good after suffering a concussion. His services will be dearly missed. Coming into the side for the fall will be an old trio of players whom I know and had played with for 6 years when we were on the SystematicsFC side. Casey Ratliff, Robert Rebenszki and Ky Ajay will come in for the final session of 2010 and provide us some consistent depth at defense, midfield and the attacking end. I am working to procure two more players who I feel will also add dimension, depth and talent in the mid and attacking ends as well to replenish the side from the number of players who will not be able to continue in 2010. |
