Sorry for the long absence. Much has happned since last fall. For starters we were informed that the City of Bloomington ran out of money after they tore-up the Sale Barn fields in an attempt to resurface them. At least that is how I interpreted their email to me about not going through with a Summer league this year. Ed Duran of Midwest Sports Inc is going to do his own Summer schedule and we will participate in.
We also have had some roster moves. For a variety of reasons some of our most seniored guys have left, most notably Alex Bartley who has been in the mix for 3 years. Marco Carriero also left to pursue his MBA at Depaul and while we will miss his cold weather choice in wardrobe! I have done my best to fill in the gaps with some new faces, Andy Oleson, Justin Tipsord, Alex Kowerko, John Solberg and bringing back Dan Gibler and Mark Kilick who had played in the side in 2009. Justin Veach will likely return in the summer, however, we will use the SEFA spring season to see how his knee injury has recovered. Lastly, there are some new teams in the mix now too. Illinois State University has a band of 19 and 20 somethings who are definitely a team that has given us a challenge. We opened the Spring to this new side with a 3-1 loss. A date we will circle for the rematch. We got back to winning ways last night with a 3-0 victory over Pub II. Despite starting the match with the FIFA minimum 7 guys (to their 15 dressed players). Big thanks to those that showed-up, which stresses the point of letting me know ahead of time if you can't play. -ck
