Mark Killick scored a brace, Chris Matthews and James Nettleton added goals each in the 4-2 win in driving rain at a slick Sugar Creek. Thanks to Andy Oleson for helping us out, but who will not be coming back in the summer. Kenny needs a new shirt now from his apparent wardrobe malfunction in the second half.

Fellas, we need to get more guys at these games, we have 15+ on our roster yet we have fielded a full squad once so far in 4 games. At any rate, that didn't seem to stop our attacking style. Dan Gibler got his first goal of the year as did team captain Kenny Caslin. Justin Veach netted his second of the year. Having to play a game at Sugar Creek is never good, and so is staring down a penalty kick 3 minutes from time for a possible equalizer after having enjoyed as much as three goal lead af the half... This loss stresses the importance of communication, fitness and how sometimes the ball doesn't bounce the right way. A few defensive mistakes coupled with a very limited offensive display equaled a very frustrating afternoon. Short turn around before our match on Friday. Mark Killick scored his second goal of the season. I've always wanted to add a way for all of us to know what the game time temperatures, forcasts, and weather will be... Well, I've now added a new weather feature in the match-centre area that also shows the time, and the count down to the next match of course along with the previous result and the upcoming match information. Veteran United CityFC midfielder Alex Bartley triumphed over the field in the Ultimate Stag Challenge's II and III (Stag Beer). He's gearing up to add another championship to his resume in the Ultimate Stag Challege V up in Chicago! You can read more about this on the Ultimate Stag Challenge facebook and myspace sites along with hi-resolution videos. Its always lousy having to play one of our two big rival teams in the first week coming out of winter ball, but we did the best we could. Another game in the wind and with mud under our feet. Mark Killick opened the 2009 scoring account in style slotting the equalizer in the early second half past the International House keeper. Midfielder Justin Veach then followed up with the winner about 10 minutes later, calmly pushing the ball through to net on a I-House defensive mis-que. The 2 goals held up and proved to be the difference. Its definitely early Spring. We've already played in one mud-bowl and we had another game postponed. Our next game this next Wednesday against Celtic Force should be good to go, however, continue to check back for field updates as I get them from Ed. |
